My original question has been answered by with similar responses to this one:

I appreciate the responses. And thanks for the responses.

But I think my set up must be different than most. My caliper has a solid steele brake line coming off it. Not a rubber brake hose. I'm thinking either I'm losing my mind or my set up is slightly different than most other busses or cars for that matter.

All the cars I have removed calipers on in the past have a rubber hose connected to them, and therefore can be hung with something like a coat hanger. But my bus has a fixed steele brake line that runs between the caliper and a fixed bracket. After the bracket there is a rubber brake hose. But as near as I can tell this bracket can't be moved. And the steele brake line hooks into the rubber brake line through the bracket. Therefore, as near as I can tell I have to disconnect the brake line from the caliper. Then reconnect and bleed the system.

Now, it seems silly for VW to have a hydrolic brake system that has to be opened to to remove the rotor (in my case to replace the bearings). So I'm thinking I must be missing something.

Am I losing my mind, or do others have this set up on their bus?
