Same thing happened to me while in Baja...resources there can be scarce...bought a length of 1/2 metal conduit and a welding shop fabbed two, one for a spare (which was needed later). The permanent fix was a piece of 1/2 inch angle iron which I cut, bent and drilled, using the old bracket as a pattern.
