all bumpers '88-'91 are fiberglass, exept the '90-'91 non gl van, which has the same metal bumpers as the '80-'87, except theyre painted black. bottom line- ALL Vanagon bumpers are worthless as far as impact protection... want security? make your own bumper out of a steel I beam.
