So what is the consensus on oil additives? I just did my first oil change in my newly-purchased used 1989 vanagon last weekend. The engine had 54k miles on it. I had a quart of slick 50 that I bought a while ago and hadn't used, so I added that to a little under 4 quarts of Valvoline synthetic oil. Was that a bad thing to do? I thought I was being extra nice to my new VW, but some recent posts have me wondering.
