Subject: Noisy KYB's (again)
Comments: To: Vanagon@vanagon.com

Hello again,

I posted this about 2 weeks ago with no responses. I thought I might try again. I purchased a set of KYB's from a list vendor and had a local shop install them. Anyway, Handling is great but small bumps seem excessively loud as if something is loose. I jacked up the van last night and used a 2x4 to slowly lift the right front wheel (the loudest one). Before the shock compressed at all, I noticed the nut and washer at the top of the shock lift 1/8" and separate from the bushing. They were still touching in the middle, but there is a 1/16" gap around the perimeter of the washer. The installer tossed the instruction set. Is this spec or should I tighten that nut more?

Thanks, Vernon
