The Vanagon did well in the crash test because the van has a higher center
of gravity, and the Volvo's snout is very low, and also its center of
gravity is low, so that adds up that the Vanagon will just be pushed up on
top of the hood and into the windshield of the Volvo.  Don't you think this
is correct reasoning?

I read some years ago that the Vanagon had the lowest per capita death rate
from crashes next to some Saab model.  This is because of the very heavy
frame that is under the Vanagons.  Such a heavy frame is unusual in motor
vehicles and is a safety to Vanagon drivers.  I was also thinking that
Vanagons have the low crash mortality rate because of the intelligence of
its drivers.  (But after reading some of these messages, I'm reconsidering
that theory :-).  That is a joke.)  ph '80.
