Since it runs around 4,000 rpm at highway speeds, I see no reason not to run it that thigh between shifts. If I really need to accumulate speed, I'll let it run to 4,500 rpm or so. The governor, (fuel cut-off) will activate at 5,400 rpm but you will get little acceleration up there.

I just have to keep my 91 syncro westy above 2,000 for it to accelerate OK. So that means I have to take it to at least 3,200 or 3,400 rpm before each shift.
