Gary - Nope, not on me Vanagon!!! Used to do all sorts of stuff to me '62 Kombi, back in vet school. (ALWAYS have respected the wiring in that particular beast! It actually made some sense!) Me '74, I used to spend countless hours replacing stuff I was too proud to let anyone else do for me. (Of course, I couldn't afford to hire anyone to do it.) Replaced every rubber item, articulating item and other funky stuff on its front-end on that beast! Methinks that was when the Ex's rumblings about finding a more "normal" man to live with started, but, heck, I didn't know it at the time. I was just comsuming vast quantities of brew and patting myself on the back for all the money I saved.

Since upgrading to a Vanagon, the large animal work has taken its toll on my neck, back and knees. I no longer find low-crawling under the beast, uh, "fun", the wife blew the hell out of two engines since she didn't think water-cooled VWs had any need of checking water and oil and I finally figured out that it takes me about six times as long to accomplish anything under the beast than it does me clients who have lifts, proper tools and a better idea of what on earth they're doing!

I DO have, though, a "soft spot" in me belly for folks who cannot afford to have some of this heavy duty work done! Been there, done that, don't like the memories, BUT, I'll buy the Red Lobster party platters if you'll allow me to watch FSU whip USF, though!
