>I have an 81 Westy which has approx. 1,000 miles on a new motor (which I >installed). The noise is a clanking, clunking sound and seems >to get worse when the vehicle is under stress i.e., going up a hill or >driveway. Also, when I push the clutch in, the noise disappears. Scott, If you are able to watch the engine during this awfull noise, and it is jumping around, it's time to change the CVs. Do both, as the other side will get damaged soon. How many mile you have on total? But don't be that afraid, I did a whole camping trip of 7,000 km on one defective CV, the other was already replaced 1,000 km before. Regards Helmut |
