A couple of days ago there was a break in the weather and I checked and adjusted the throttle switch. (It is really not well protected when you travel dusty roads and probably should be a regular maintenance item.)

I cleaned an slightly oiled the idle stabilizer and checked all connections and hoses. When I unplug the stabilizer valve during idle the engine dies, so it is moving.

Now everything works fine when the engine is cold. When it is warm it sometimes still idles at 2000 rpm. I can decelerate and notice that the switch is working now: the engine decelerates to about 1000 rpm and when the idle system kicks in it accelerates to about 2000. Now here is the kicker: it does it only when I do not have time to check it further.

In addition it has been raining sideways a lot here and I had a leak in my self installed front sunroof which began to drip between my legs. Talking about water cooled ..., no idle surges on my part. Well that is fixed now: the sunroof of course.

Do I need to invest in a new idle stabilizer or does anyone have clever repair ideas?

Björn Mill Bay, B.C.
