Hey Michael.. I just got my 84 Westy this year. It's my first vw bus and I love it. I've had plenty of problems...and they're not a cheap vehicle.. If you're getting a vanagon cause you think they're inexpensive and thrifty...they ain't!

They need constant attention and get lousy gas mileage.

But I adore mine and couldn't imagine getting rid of it, save perhaps to trade it for another one some day.

I wouldn't suggest having a vanagon be your sole transport though... at least not if you do lots of driving like we do here in L.A.

It's kinda like having a horse. In fact, it's a lot like having a horse!
