The advice I'm getting here is helping - I've successfully removed a
couple of the studs. I'll probably wait for the weekend to take on the
rest (especially the busted one). The banging on the end is the thing
that seems to really be working, and I'll be picking up a stud removal
tool tomorrow.

I'm located in SW Houston - Missouri City to be exact. I have a two-tone
blue '84 GL that I've owned since new, and that I really love. My wife
and I use it a lot - we do tent camping trips fairly often in the state
parks, and we have driven it to our cottages in Canada 14 consecutive
years. It's the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven for long
trips.  We once had a '72 Westfalia that was the most UN-comfortable
vehicle we've ever used. Funny how things change!
