Need to be more careful about chains vs cables. Chains are subject to catastrophic failure at their weakest link. Under strain that could hurt someone. Cables tend to begin failure one strand at a time, and will generally give some warning, like a strand breaking and unwinding suddenly.. .but it won't break catastrophically unless the strain is allowed to continue.

Just thought I would pass the caution along.

BTW, wenching vs winching is a lot more interesting.!!!

I have put the tow hooks up there, but prefer a chain to a cable because the chain can be adjusted to any length, facilitating the lengthening and shortening of the chain on either of the two sides of the winch, and thus facilitating the ability of the winch drum to be angled toward the tree to which one is winching.

Using the term winching beyond a certain number of uses per paragraph tends to twist the tounge and calls attention to this odd verb. In fact, it recalls another odd word which is wenching. One has a tendency to wonder with the guys, "Why aren't we wenching instead of winching," the answer in my own case being that I am married.
