Subject: using reverse running transaxles, quattro 5 speed and rear diff

While we are on the subject, what are the possibilities of using the quattro 5 speed and the rear differential and install it in a syncro. My viscous coupling went out today while I was showing-off my cool syncro driving in really deep snow, heavy wet snow, a lot of heavy duty 4x4 trucks were stuck in it. While I was going through the really deep stuff, I stuck my head out the window to see what was going on because it didn't feel like a snow mobile any more in the snow. I purposely got the syncro stuck, unlocked the rear diff, put it in low first gear, left it running in gear, got out, and one rear wheel was turning, nothing was happening up front. The only way I can get anything to happen up front, I have to really make the rear wheels spin, and only then the fronts will spin slightly. I need to have instant power up front so the rear don't dig themselves in the deep snow. So, my thing is since I also own a quattro is this conversion possible. Ultimately I would like the front diff on my syncro lockable also. Someone on the list this spring said that he simply machined his front diff to accept the same locking diff parts on the trans to fit up front on his diff. Totally locked 4x4 syncro would be the ultimate. My syncro is prewired at the front diff for the locked mode indicator light. I noticed other syncro's are also. Any feed back would be great.
