thanks everyone, after close inspection it turned out my problem is a faulty clutch master cylinder.Fluid running down the side of it, surprised I didn't notice.

I purchased a new master cylinder(plug for Halsey Auto parts in Portland, they had it in stock for only $39.00). Here is my new problem: all my previous cars have had cable operated clutches, I do not know how to bleed a hydraulic clutch. Bentley is a little vague on the subject, all it says is the job must be performed with a pressure bleeder. Would it not be possible to bleed it like brakes, just have someone depress the pedal while I open the bleed screw? any suggestions would be appreciated, I have a long drive home for thanksgiving and would love to do it with a fully operational clutch. Thanks again, Don
