Volks, I hope everyone had a terrific turkey day! Ours was great until we were traveling back from Roanoke, VA to Fairfax, VA. in our 91 Vanagon. Our trip was extremely smooth and fast (averaging 70 mph) on the way back. We made a 4 or 5 minute stop about 75 miles into our trip to change drivers. Almost as soon as we resumed traveling we noticed a random hesitation (didn't seem linked to a straining engine - happening going up and down hills, as well as on the flats). This hesitation was almost as if the driver's foot had slipped off of the gas. It would occur 3 or 4 times in a 4 minute time period, then wouldn't happen again for 15 minutes or so. It kept it up the rest of the way home (about 165 miles). It hasn't happened again since our return. I've only driven around town, no highway driving, though and for shorter lengths of time, no more than 30 minutes at a time. We did purchase in Roanoke some cheap gas, but it WAS mid-grade, so we're wondering if that could be the problem. Still have about a quarter of that tank. I'm also hoping that it was water in the gas, instead of what I"m thinking the alternative is - the fuel pump or the injectors. Any help with a diagnosis would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Karen 91 Vanagon 71 Westy |
