Subject: The engine is out
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello, Well I've finally gotten my engine pulled out. It has been frustrating. I have had my new engine for three weeks and haven't had time to put it in. I have been doing a little bit before I have to go to work. I took today off so I could get something done. After disconnecting all the wires and hoses, the engine came out very easily. I have almost all the parts removed form the old engine. As I removed the coolant tubes. I checked each for rust. I am amazed. There is not a single rust spot anywhere. I am glad I have been taking care of the coolant. I was afraid of finding paper thin tubes. I remember reading posts of tubes that had to be replaced. I am the second owner of the van. The P.O took the van to the dealer to be serviced regularly. I hope that by tomorrow afternoon to have the new engine in the van. It wont be ready to drive but at least I can get my $1,100.00 deposit back. I did find a couple of broken brackets. The bracket that holds the bottom of the alternator, was broken in too. I will have to weld it back together. The bracket that holds the passenger side of the muffler was broken and missing. I thought the muffler was moving a little too much. I also looked inside the heads. There was a little white corrosion, but nothing major. I hope this bodes well for the rest of the coolant system.

Well that's all for now. Colin Moran '86 Syncro GL Beebe AR
