Subject: auto transmission nasties

I have an 80 Westy with an automatic transmission. WHen I bought it the PO said that it would occasionally feel "sluggish" until it was warmed up. Something which he attributed to the transmission and said that If I change the ATF it would correct itself. Well, I've changed the ATF and took it for a little drive and it seemed to be running quite well. I parked it and didn't need to drive anywhere for a few days. When I did start it back up again it ahd that same "sluggish" feeling. I pulled over and sat for a few minutes and it was fine.

What could be causing this and what can I do about it? There doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern to it. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to happen more often in reverse, but not always.

Any ideas/suggestions?
