I have conducted business with "Polo's Foreign", in Texas 1(800) 259-4020. It's not California, but you may be interested in adding them to your list (the emblem on their invoice is a "VW Beetle"). A little over a year ago, I went in search of a 5 speed Syncro transmission WITH locking differential. Most places I contacted kind of grumbled in response to my inquiry, and then wished me lots of luck. "Polo's" acted like it was no big deal. Sure enough, I received my transmission and (so far-knock on wood) all is very well!
