I have an '89 Westy, which fits with about an inch to spare in my garage, which measures about 82.5". Of course, when I leave my Yakima rack on top, then try to enter, it doesn't fit quite as nicely. Luckily, it pulled the rack off the pop-top mounted bracket, and didn't hurt the pop-top. For this reason, I would make your garage at least tall enough to allow the Westy to have a rack on top. My dad does, and it sure is a lot nicer putting that rack on and off in the warmer, dry garage, then out in the biting cold and rain. Just my .02 cents Cory ps - If you want the measurement with the rack on, pmail me, and I'll measure it tonight, unless someone already has it.

Subject: Need Height Measurement
I'm drawing up plans for a garage so I won't have to work in my limestone driveway any longer! I have a Weekender now, but I need to know just how much door height clearance I'll need for a Westy (I will have one eventually). Can someone measure the height over thier top for me?, (Synchros will be more, I'm sure). Thanks a lot! |
