The audi adapter kits that Ken Wilfy is talking about importing have a very tempting price tag as I circle like a vulture over my friend's dying VW Quantum. There appears to be one problem with this, though. Word on the list seems to be that this kit won't let the Audi 5cyl work with an automatic transmission and this is what I got in my '80 Westy. However, a little while back I thought there was some discussion about the 5000/quantum auto tranny being the same one from the Vanagon. Did this turn out not to be the case? If this they really were the same transmission it would seem like I could bolt the 5cyl engie right up to my Vanagon and go go go. If they're not the same then what's the incompatibility? Will Detlev's kit let me do it? Could I take the transmission out of my buddy's Quantum and put it in my Vanagon? mac == Residential Life Coordinator, Berea College 80 Westy (the Turtle) 97 Klein Mantra (Dr. Livingston) 93 Bridgestone XO-2 (Zippy) 91 Bridgestone MB-2 Fixed Gear (Earnest) _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
