Hi all, I'm updating on Vinnie's (my 85 Vanagon) condition. The problem was-driving around town ok, but 30 miles or so out on the highway the fuel would gradually get richer and richer until finally the fuel injectors would straight stream. (Test at mechanics determined this.) Symptoms were like drivers foot slipping off gas until it quit running during deceleration, like on an exit ramp. Well, now the problem has evolved to the point that it is happening 5 mins or so after start up. No longer just a highway problem. Recap of replaced parts include: new cap/rotor/plugs fuel pressure regulator ignition module Cory (my mechanic supreme) has performed extensive tests and we are at the conclusion that the ECU is the most probable culprit. I'm just playing detective to the extreme and well, here we are. Unplugging O2 sensor (to get to defaut mode) results in no change at idle or revs from idle Have yet to drop cat converter as the bolts are extremely frozen Any new insights? Any one have the lowest priced source for an ECU with any warranty? Thanks, Dave-85 Vanagon "Vinnie" Allentown,PA |
