If thats the case then $300 for a good condition early Vanagon 091 gearbox is about right. Cores for this generally run from $100-$175 depending on the condition of the gearbox and mood of the owner. Now for the $800 on a full rebuild with a custom gear- thats about $200-$250 less than what I normally charge.
