----------------------------- Hi Volks, I think Helmet is on to something here with raising the rear seat. I just installed a westy interior in my new 87 van. The westy rear seat could be raised a couple of inches by shimming between the floor and the rear seat. This would be a easy mod, piece of cake. People with short legs may complain a bit. I did stay with the stock 2.1L. I did a proper rebuild with dynamic balancing and the results very acceptable for me. Total just under $1500 including new amc heads. Darrell

Since the rear area will be raised, how will you handle weekender and Westy beds? They won't align any more, so you'll need thinner pads or something. >Karl,

you will need different hinges for your bed. It will rais it by 10 cm when folded as bed. German Westies are shipped with these as an option for additional storage room on top of the engine compartment.
