if you raise the _whole_ rear deck - when you think about it - all you westy owners will have to cut the bottom off your left rear cabinet. also, if you raise the whole rear sofabed, whichever part, there will either be a space between the seatbottom, and the underseat storage area, or between the underseat storage area, and the floor.. plus other unforseen complications.. i know how a vanagon westy rear sofabed is mounted. i just removed one yesterday.

the best bet would be to modify your existing engine access lid to accomodate the rise, and cut a section out of your rear mattress. (like Helmut did)

gee...vw could have saved everyone a whole lot of trouble, and never even invented the stupid waterboxer..... ;<)
