FWIW I've have a Yakima ($700 + with 5 lockjaw mounts, high-rise towers, locks, fairing etc.) and a Paulchen (old style) ($60 from BBTA 14), The Paulchen is far superior. Although the Paulchen can only carry upto 4 bikes (I only have 2 mounts right now) it has several advantages over the Yakima. First the Paulchen is out of the wind so it doesn't hurt your mileage nearly as much, it is easier to get the bikes on and off of the rack and it cost's less. Another big bonus is that it's German and is a really cool accessory. My rack was originally purchased from a VW dealer in Germany in 86. I can't vouch for the new Paulchens, but if they're anything like mine I'd get one.
