Karl explains, "The Blizzaks are definitely a bit more 'squirmy' feeling, but the are still brand-new. The weight rating on them is 1742 lbs! I measured the height against a stock-tired Syncro I have, and now the Westy is 3" higher."

Karl, could you please perform a little experiment for the record. Mark a spot on the ground and on one of these tires. Then move your Westy forward for 10 tire rotations and mark where the tire mark now aligns with the ground. Then measure how far apart those ground marks are. Report back to us how many inches each tire rotation moves the Westy.

This may help those who are trying to match the very different TDI diesel torque curve and rpm range against the load a Vanagon or Westy presents. Finding tall enough gears to optimize this has seemed impossible with commonly available Vanagon transmissions even after retro fitting the tallest gear sets available.

John.
