For those who care.... the bolt pattern on my '66 Porsche's #901 gearbox is same as the H20 vanagons. I matched up a syncro bellhousing with the 901 bell, the Subaru adapter plate fits both perfectly. You could get a 'sportomatic' version back then if desired. Minor problems with CV's/axle lengths/clutch/flexplate etc after that ;) Going to this trouble wouldn't be worth it I suspect. Didn't 'Indian Vic' have some South African NOS vanagon 5spds that took the Audi 5cyl engines for $2200 a while back? Potential for a nice 130-160 (or to 235)HP conversion that way. bye, Tim |
