Subject: British Vanagon - Paintwork & Bra
Comments: To: vanagon@VANAGON.COM

A Georgia registered Vanagon Mulivan has escaped from the United States and has sought sanctuary in Berkshire, England .

The family who are looking after this refugee have promised to bring it up as one of their own. It has its own quarters, a nice dry garage next to the house, and has already been taken on several holidays with one to Prague, which included a visit to Weidenbruck in Germany, the place where it was borne.

The adoptive father, me - John Herbert, does have a couple of questions that I would be keen to have answered if there is someone who does not mind talking to a Brit.

1 - paint work - the Vanagon is in that great and classy named Bordeaux Red which has a lacquer top coat. The PO neglected this and the summer bugs have left marks that cannot be polished out. Is the only treatment a new paint job.

2 - nose bra - assuming I can solve the paint problem I am contemplating fitting a VW nose bra from The Bus Depot. The question is are they worth it (not value wise but from a benefit standpoint) and will need to remove the bra every time it gets wet and if so how easy is it to remove and put back on.

You will not be surprised to read that this is my first Vanagon E-mail although I have enjoyed reading the messages for some time . If this works I will follow up with the information about :

The replica Westfalia lift out kitchen I had made which keeps the Multivan side wall table.

The genuine Westfalia 1998 trailer or as it is described in the German catalogue "Answeganhanger"

Best wishes and a happy Vanagon new year.

John Herbert
