I do have a coolant tank on my trophy shelf. It has a crack and was part of a series of events that lead to an engine overheat and ultimaltely rebuild. I think I will keep it as one of my memorabilia. I would buy a new one (unfortunately a dealer item). If you are still not convinced I will tell you the whole story. >>

Hi Björn, I just got mine a couple of months ago but from what I can see that tank drove the previous owner/owners? crazy. It only has 75k on it and has been rebuilt at least once, someone added a second radiator and fan and put it in the spare tires place, and still didn't discover the real problem which it would seem was the tank. Somehow where the pressure cap seats to the inside rim of the tank it is all gouged out and therefore the cap was unable to fully seal. Solved the problem (for now!) by placing a large O ring over the gouged rim and now it holds the seal. I removed the second radiator and fan and it's working just fine. I'm sure you would agree a good tank is a real good idea. I just hate to spend the $100 dollars plus the dealer is asking! OK what's your story? Thanks again, Michael Avrea 82 Westy Diesel
