Yau-Man Chan wrote a wonderful treatise (12-9-98 at 2:03 p.m.) on oil filters which should be required reading for all Vanagon owners.

My previous "thank you" posting (12-10-98 at 3:35 a.m.) neglected to properly reference this posting (and his addendum).  So, for  those of us who are often too quick with the delete key, they are attached here.
