Anyone got any ideas on the following?:

My 80 Vanagon exhibited rough idle and stalling after I got it back from the shop back in September...cold weather snap. With all the warm weather here on the east coast of the U.S. it cleared up and I thought maybe it fixed itself.

Needless to say the last two days it has gotten below freezing at night and is chilly during the day again. I'm back to the rough idle and stalling. I haven't driven it far since then so I don't know if it will clear up when the engine gets warm.

It seems like it is running with the choke on. If I engine brake coming up to a stop there is lots of poping in the exhaust...sounds like lots of extra fuel in the mix but I'm guessing.

I've had the venting problem from the gas tank since I got it a year ago (fuel overflow on fillup, vapor smell inside sometimes). Is this connected?

Kind regards --
