Subject: Anyone have a '93 EV MV? (I have some questions)
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com

I'm looking for some information on a '93 Eurovan MV that has facing rear seats and a table in back.

This EV is located about 5 hours away, and before I make the trip to look at it I was wondering if it is possible to flip the rear facing seat around to face forward. I remember riding in my parent's old wagon with a rear facing seat, and never found it very comfortable.

I called the previous owner (EV is now at a used car lot), who had traded it in on a new GMC van, and is very sorry she did. She actually wanted to know where the EV was located to buy it back!

She decided to trade it in after the VW dealer told here it needed about $3K worth of work. I called the dealer and here is what they told me.

$225 new transmission mount $320 ignition switch $220 dist. cap and plugs $610 front brakes $580 timing belt and tensioner plus some other misc. periodic service and maint.

The used car dealer says the brakes have been fixed and he put on a new windshield, but none of the other work has been done. At these prices, it's amazing that anyone can afford dealer service.

The details on this EV

1993 Eurovan MV 72,000 miles automatic 5cyl 2.5 liter engine dual air/heat power windows/door locks tinted windows. $7,900

If the EV checks out ok, I plan on buying it. Looks like a pretty good deal to me, other than those seats. Anyone with any first hand knowledge of the '93 EV, or EV MV, you comments would be appreciated.
