Robyn; I assume you are going to use a relay to energize these spots. From this relay's control coil will be a wire to chassis ground. Instead hook it to the high beam's hot wire. If the high beams are off the relay will find a ground path through the bulbs filaments. If the high beams are on the 12volts across the filaments will prevent the spot's relay from energizing.
