Subject: Highway "flooding out" problem update/solved

Hello listees, About 3-4 weeks ago, I solicited help regarding a problem of the injectors firing too long which eventually caused Vinnie to run richer and richer until he flooded out and stopped running. First it was at highway speeds,

then it progressed to 5 mins after idle. Well, we trouble shot and replaced in this order: Fuel pressure regulator-(helped but didn't solve) Plugs, cap, rotor (they were so fouled by fuel & the rotor need it anyway)

Ignition module-helped for a while and then Vinnie died while mechanic was standing right over the engine compart. It was like I turned the key off,

really. And then following Bently, checking the pin outs, we concluded, to my angst, that it had to be the ECU. Before parting with big $$'s I followed several LM's advice and checked the temp sensor for functioning and O2 cable for kinks/shorts but didn't find

any. With the help of a list member (thanks Carl) I was able to obtain an ECU @ low $$. Installed the ECU and ran Vinnie around town and on highway, it seems as

if the problem is solved. (Now my O2 sensor light has come on and it is time to replace it as well.) Thanks to all of the help for this problem. Information is power and there is plenty of great info on this here list. Wish I had found it much sooner that I did. I could have been saving a bunch of $$$.

Only thing is now that my MPG has dropped 3 miles or so/gal. Any suggestions here?
