My head gaskets started leaking a coulpe of years ago at about 130000kms. Now I have 267000kms on the same engine with the same head gaskets. I have repeated the procedure twice after I changed coolant. I did not notice any negative cooling effects and have not found extensive coating on coolant parts that I replaced.

To me it seems quite a cost effective patch.
