Thanks for all the people that sent me tips on buying a Vanagan. I've worked as a mechanic, although I only do it part time now. Should be able to handle the maintenance work just fine. I'me still conisdering converting a deisel, but the engine the person has for the swap has a new carb conversion (as part of the deal) I don't want to do carburation, I'm much rather do injection. Since it is already bought, I doubt I can NOT get that part if I got the rest.

I have a list of stuff wrong with the 84 I'm looking at, I'll post it later for input. Mostly little niggly stuff, non-working speedo etc. Might be a ok price, might be high, from what I've seen.

Here are the things I found wrong:

Speedo not working (odometer portion) Dash lights not working (needs flex board- $ 130?) Wheel bearing (rear- maybe?) Brake rotors turned (they said they will do it) Water radiator tank- the one behind the lisc. plate Windscreen cracked in lower right corner, probably ok Right rear bumper 'extension' Sliding door may need a bit of tune up Muffler shot Rear window defogger may not work (couldn't test well) Cat converter? Unknown condition The seats will not adjust when sitting on them, is this common?

If anyone has comments/prices on above, I'd appreciate it. I'be been considering offering $2000 for it, but I'd want to double check water leaks/engine leakdown etc.

Thanks again, Mark
