Hi, note on Audi/Passat rims. I've used the steel rims for over a year, and used the stock vanagon nuts (on a Syncro) to hold them on. I just went back to stock VW rims, and noticed that tightening down of the nuts onto the smaller Audi bolt holes had in fact altered the shape of their seating surface. No problem I thought, held the big heavy wheels/tires on fine. Well.... now the stock wheel nuts work loose and need watching. I've retorqued many times, but the contact area is beat up, so they won't hold. A bad wheel bearing in one corner has been putting some nasty vibrations into the van, which may be increasing the loosening rate, but the bottom line is I need 20 new nuts. And need 20 more suited to the Audi shape. ;(. YMMV, bye, Tim |
