thnks for the info about the spider gears. > ratios. The closest I can get is a 3.78 X 2.21 instead of > the regular 3.78 X 2.06. Thirds and Fourths are available > in HD stock ratio versions, however. Figure on a $1000 > just for the mainshaft and idler gears with new 3rd and > 4th sets. There are less expensive ones out there but i was wondering how much it would be approx for the above parts put into a newer tranny case.. with heavy duty 3rd and 4th gears... and if you can get different gear ratios for 4th gear, whatever ratio would make it so that the engine would turn about 2500 rpm at 70mph... i dunno if this is possible, but i'm not that good with calculating gearing. some questions i have about the swap would be is this new transaxle i'm getting would it be a bolt in upgrade, or would i have to machine anything on the van itself. also, about the irs, is there any way to get stronger halfshafts so that i don't have to worry about twisting them up when i'm backing up. thanks in advance.
