On my Lotus, I installed a Accusump. This is an accumulator that 'stores' pressurized oil. There is a valve (electric or manual) that closes when the engine is shut down, keeping a quart or three of oil (depending on the size of the unit) under pressure. When you restart, the valve is breifly opened, allowing full oil pressure before even cranking the engine over. It also prevents oil starvation during hard cornering- if the pressure lowers, the accusump 'kicks in' and keeps the pressure stable (until it runs out). Mark |
