Lynnda, Do not under any circumstances assign the title to the buyer until you have the cash in hand or certified check deposited in your account! Business is business and it is conducted under certain procedures to protect the parties involved. If it doesn't feel right to you then it probably isn't! Recently I sold my 1990 VW Passat. After the potential buyer looked it over and made me an acceptable offer, she wanted to pay with a personal check. Well she sure was nice and seemed like a decent sort, but I politely told her that I needed cash or a bank check. She responded "How can I convince you that I have money in checking account?"
