Volks, I have noticed gas fumes emmanating from the 87GL and have "grounded" it until I can track the source down. I have been vexed trying to locate the exact source, it doesn't seem to be the engine compartment, but rather somewhere forward from there.

My question to the List is this: When Vanagon fires have occurred, I have heard of a few, does anyone know of the specific source(s) on the fuel delivery system that have been positively identified as the culprit?

I will check all my clamps as Bjorn suggested, for it is my thought that good German fuel line should be good for what, maybe 15 years? I can understand clamps loosening up, but the integrity of the fuel line itself should be good short of some rubbing/friction I would imagine.

Any and all feedback appreciated.
