Hello, I'm looking for the most bullet-proof rebuilt trans for under $1000 for my '84 Vanagon. I do a good bit of highway driving and again a fair share of mountain driving in the Adirondack Mountains here in NY. I'm really interested in a 5-speed but would prefer to keep the stock four speed set up in case I need to have the van serviced while traveling. I know there are quite a few vendors here, the best offer I deal I have is from Bus Depot for one rebuilt by Rancho Trans for $750 + shipping. I figure if all the people are here advertising their wares maybe I can get a little price war going. Always worth a try.
