Subject: fuel lines, clamps

Malcolm's post regarding the danger of fuel lines reminds me of another issue.

My 86/87 Syncro runs well with the original fuel lines and the original engine. However, I check everything regularly. On my recent 265000km service I discovered a leak in the main fuel line at the straight connector which is at the top front centre of the engine. Not wanting to tempt fate I got a straight connector and some clamps before I attempted the repair. I thought that the connector was broken. I was happy to discover that the only problem was a loose clamp. I wish every problem could be fixed within a minute!

However, my concern is that these hose clamps may lose their tension after a while so it would be worthwhile to check them on your next maintenance. There are quite a few of them in the engine compartment. Special attention should be given to all the connections around the injectors, because they can leak on the exhaust pipes.
