I am amazed by the many reports about battery blankets. Living in Norway, we
do of course have cold winters, but I have never seen or heard of a battery
heater, only only water heaters, battery chargers or coupe heaters. Is it very
common for cars to have them in the ice belt on your side of the pond?

On the warm up time, the manual for my car just says to drive off immediately,
not letting it stand still to warm up, avoid heavy acceleration, don't rev it,
turn off the engine when the traffic comes to a halt.
