Subject: Subaru Legacy engine
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Happy 1999 Volks, ...I would appreciate some input...

I have a '87 Syncro GL (118,000m) and need to replace the heads for the second time. I have been reading the list on this subject for quite a while in anticipation of this...now it is here! I am 98% convinced that I sahould replace the engine; but with what?? A lot of discussion is about the Audi 5c engine and I understand (???) that some deck height is lost. My son suggested a Subaru engine, But I don't recall any mention of a Subaru replacement. Searching the net, I found the Kennedy Engineered Products site, and a recommedation of the Subaru Legacy (90-94) engine.

Has anyone had any experience with this engine? I would really appreciate your comments. Maybe it would be simpler to buy a rebuilt VW engine (a '91 ??) and install it! ??

Thank You, Marlin, in Cent.PA
