Subject: Re: Fires/ fuel lines

Can someone give us a review here (or point in the right direction) for replacing the lines? Here's my issue: I have had my 80 Vanagan for 2 years. When I heard about the fuel line problem, I got the right jack and stands to get under the van to look at them. (BTW, I consider the matter of jacking up the van not fun and not easy.)

Anyway, speed up my work by answering these questions:

1. Would any good auto parts store have the type of line I need?

2. What do you ask for (name, size, etc. )

3. How much do you need

4. How many hose clamps do you need?

5. Do you need step by step instructions or is it prety straight forward: just cut out the old, put in the new?

6. What else?

thanks, ph

Malcom's reminder to prevent fire is important. There isn't a better present we can give to our 'gons than new fuel line. I recently changed every inch of fuel line and in the process found two leaks.

I could not believe how cracked and brittle some of the line was, including the short piece at the tank on the return line. Next I will replace the short sections on the injectors, one of which has a bad crack.
