Karl, I have an 82 and added two gauges one is a cylinder head temperature and the other one for the oil temperature. It is mounted on an enclosed console made for three gauges. I then mounted it on the headliner right in front of the mounting for the rear view mirror (no it does not obstruct the view. Wiring it is very tricky, you have to pass through the hole where the mirror is mounted then towards the left then down the pillar, I used a small drain opener for this. Removing the sunvisor will help you see the wires. My next project will be to add a oil pressure gauge.
