To the below I'd say I strongly disagree. I test drove some of the Mexican made Golfs/Jettas a few years ago as well as had friends who owned same and they were problematic and felt poorly assembled though they were "German Engineered" as VW loves to remind everyone. Perhaps VW has sorted out its well know Puebla quality problems, but when I bought a new car in '96 I bought the Passat which is made in Germany rather than taking a chance with my hard earned beans and hoping that VW has brought its Mexican assembly plant up to snuff.
