>>> Steven Min <manymins@jps.net> 01/08 11:56 PM >>> How did you fix your hesitation problem ?, My van seems to go for 7 miles or so and all of a sudden the it feels like it slows down and no power. Of course this happened in the morning with the temp in the mid to upper 30's. >> Knock on wood..I have not had a hesitation problem in the last 4 years!! My hesitation problems were mostly fuel system related. It has happen about half a dozen times in the first 7 years. Changing the fuel filter fixed the problem a couple of times. Wacking on the fuel pump relay and the control relay fixes it a couple of time. Yes..I said wacking.. not too hard..with a handle of a screw driver! (I finally changed them last month when suddenly one morning the van won't start. They are identical so buy them in pairs and change them together) One time I had to take out the fuel pump and clean it out. It's still the original pump. I also put in Chevron TEchron cleaners religously. One time the hesitation was traced to a bad distributor cap -that one took a lot of trial and error to find!

I have not touched or made any modification to the air flow meter. I have not physically cleaned the injectors just removed them to examine them. (Do mess with the nozzle if they look clean. .. keep pouring in those Techron cleaners..do I sound like I own stock in the company?)

>>My tips to longevity? do regular maintenance and run some fuel injection cleaner thru the system once in awhile and think nice thoughts to the Vanagon Gods :^) >> First part yes.. definitely.. but think nice thoughts to the Vanagon Gods? No..not bloody likely. I curse that thing everytime something acts up. I'll swap it for a Toyota Sienna at the drop of a pin <g> but then my wife love it and as long as she want to keep it she has to keep me to keep it running!!!
